Health Vacation at JNI - Day 5

Image
As the days are progressing, the schedule is becoming smooth and easy. I think my body is getting used to it now and responding well to the schedule. As usual got up at 5 AM and got ready for the day. Started the day with some walking and then completed our yogic kriya’s. Initially I was amazed with how easily others are able to do Jalaneeti and other kriya’s, but now even I have become more confident and can do it with ease. I think it all comes with experience, more you experience better you get at it. Now I don’t need any directions and quickly complete all my kriya’s, with ease. After completing the kriya’s, it was time for laughter therapy or laughing yoga. I remember I used to see people practicing laughter yoga in the park when I used to go for walking and I used to think what they are doing. But now I know and understand the benefits. As they say, Laughter is the best medicine and we understood what it means now.  There are many benefits of everyday laughter sessi...

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 4

Image
It has become a routine to get-up at 5 without much hassle now. You don’t need any alarm as well. The system has got immune to this new lifestyle and timings. The tiredness that was there on first two days is much less now. Probably my body has understood that this is the new schedule it needs to follow, like it or not. We started the day with walking for about 3 kms and then completed our yogic kriya’s followed by yoga asana’s. As usual once we complete these activities, we are served various tea and leave’s, for me its always digestive team with methi.  After that it’s time for mud pack and eye pack. These activities are regular and to be followed by everyone, every day. Today, it was infra-red sauna for me. It is very similar to regular sauna but with infra-red rather than steam.  This was followed by physiotherapy and acupuncture session. IN between all these treatments we had breaks for juice which included karela or bitter gourd juice along with ragi porridge...

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 2

Image
DAY TWO It’s been a long day today and hasn't got much time to rest and to capture the daily events. The day is about to end in another two hours. I am desperately in need of good sleep as I didn't get much sleep last night and no time to rest in the day as well today, the day was fully packed with activities/treatments. Today was the actual day (first morning) after coming to JNI.  The day started at 5 AM. We got up at 5 AM today. Took some time to freshn’up and got ready to start the day. We still had some time to start the activities so utilized the time in walking. At 5.45 AM, it was time for Yogic Kriyas. We started with Ghee drops in nose, Jalaneti with Kapalbhati (using a utensil you pass the water from one nostril and take it out from the other nostril), Vaman Dhauti (drink 4 glasses of water and forceful vomiting), Gargling followed by Eye Kriya (open your eyes in eye tonic water). The first day it took about 25 minutes but as we progres...

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 1

Image
Day 1 You are expected to reach JNI before 11 AM on your first day. Keeping that in mind we booked the cab for 8.30 AM from Marathalli as our first pickup was from there. Next myself and Mahesh got picked-up  from Koramangla. We took NICE road so that we avoid going thru traffic and can reach JNI as per expected time. It took about 1 hour 30 minutes from Marathalli to JNI. At the main gate of JNI campus, we were asked to keep our luggage in the visitors room and were asked to meet the coordinators at the reception. The registration was very systematic and smooth. AT the main gate security, they have a list of all the patients supposed to join every day. We met the counselors who helped us initiate the joining formalities. While we were completing the joining formalities, we were served welcome drink, Tender Coconut water. It was really refreshing and I was thinking that why people write so much on food in JNI, not knowing fully what’s in store for next ten days...

Health Vacation at Jindal Nature-cure Institute

Image
The Wake Up Call I want to start this with a quote from author Robin Sharma’s book ‘The monk who sold his Ferrari’, “ When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all of your thoughts breaks their bonds, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person than you ever dreamed yourself to be ”. My friend is suffering with Polyp’s for a long ti.me and it was getting worst day by day. He tried taking medicines, homeopathy but nothing worked. Doctors finally advised him surgery to remove the Polyp’s and to clear the nasal blockage. This was the wake call for my friend and he started searching on the net for other alternative solutions available. While searching on net, he got to know of Naturopathy treatment at Jindal Nature Cure. He checked their website and read t...

Passport for Minor or an Infant

Image
I recently applied for passport for my two daughters aged 3 and 8. It was a renewal for the 8 year old and a fresh passport for the 3 year old. I am sharing my experience for the benefit of others. While applying for passports for my daughters, I didn't get much direction online, though there was information on the passport website about the forms and formalities but not on the exact process and how one should prepare. There are few forums and blogs which talk about this but do not provide much direction. I am sure all those who have kids will want to apply for passports irrespective of their travel plans. My  elder kid already had a passport which was due for renewal in November’14 and I had to apply for a fresh passport for the younger one. You can apply for a renewal of old passport anytime within one year from the date of expiry of the passport. Since I had to apply fresh passport for the younger one, I decided to renew the elder ones passport also at the ...

Negotiation Skills

Image
Whether you’re buying or selling, whether it’s about money, time, commitment,, or cooperation, being skilled at negotiating can be crucial to your success. Effective negotiation helps you to resolve situations where, what you want, conflicts with what someone else wants. Are you a Negotiator? I think Everyone is a negotiator. It is an everyday occurrence. Life is an endless series of interactions that require negotiation. You are confronted daily with countless situations in which you are called upon to negotiate, to reach an agreement, or to resolve a conflict or difference of opinion (e.g., negotiate bedtime with children; holiday or vacation destination with family and/or friends). The issue is not whether you negotiate, but rather how effective you are. Negotiation is a skill that can be improved with practice. Although everyone negotiates informally all the time without even being aware of it, formal negotiation is a skill that can be learned through experience and pract...

Trip to Vaishno Devi

Image
Jai kara shera wali da, bol sache darbar ke jai! This was a trip, long due for me. Last time I visited Vaishno Devi was some three years back I guess. I was making plans ever since I decided that I will be going to Delhi in Dec to spend time with my extended family. This time of the year, it’s very cold, in Delhi and even colder at Vaishno Devi and hence less people are expected to visit. Therefore, the officials keep both the caves open and hence you can have good darshan at the Bhawan as well. I reached Delhi on 17th November 2011 and started making my plans for the trip. Spoke to couple of friends who agreed to join me on the trip. But, there is a saying. You will visit Vaishno Devi shrine only if there is an invitation for you from Mata. I guess my time had not come and hence thrice I had to cancel my plans. I was desperate to visit in 2011, but I did not realize that god has some other plans for me. Every time I planned the trip, I had to cancel the tickets because of...

Global Workforce and communication

We all know that communication plays a very important role in today's business environment. Its not just spoken language, but written as well as non-verbal communication plays equally important role. More so, when the business and their functions have gone global and you have global workforce. Today, working with diverse cultural groups is fast becoming the norm. More so, the usual face to face meetings are being replaced by virtual meetings and teleconferences. Hence, it is even more important to make sure communication is effective and the message has been understood. Whether the company is transitioning to overseas expansion, or hiring from abroad, it is becoming important for professionals to work effectively with colleagues from widely diverse cultures. This also extends to developing a strong team spirit. It is, therefore, important to connect well to foster a positive work environment and have greater levels of productivity and efficiency. Are there any specific rules t...

Parikrama at Vrindavan in Mathura

Image
I am going to share my experience on a spiritual tour to Mathura, the land of Sri Krishna. Our journey started from Delhi. We were seven of us; two of them were my close friends and classmates. We studied together in school (11th and 12th Standard) and completed our graduation as well, together. We started our journey on 9th Dec 2011 at 6 AM in the morning. It was beautiful to see the sun-rise early morning. Mathura is about 150 kms from Delhi, about 3 hours drive. The route is Delhi – Faridabad – Ballabgarh – Palwal – Hodal – Mathura. We had tea and breakfast on the way. One good thing of highways in North India is you have plenty of options for food and the highways are full of Dhabas, the so called Indian roadside restaurants. We completed our trip on the same day and reached back home at 10 pm. Vrindavan Parikrama is a spiritual walk undertaken by devotees around Vrindavan town in Uttar Pradesh. Parikrama meant walk around the sacred Vrindavan by foot, feeling the Braj raja...
