Health Vacation at JNI - Day 3

The day started again at 5 AM. We followed the same schedule as yesterday and same lunch like yesterday’s dinner (papaya, pineapple, sprouts, buttermilk and soup) followed same physiotherapy sessions today as well along with same mud pack eye pack treatment.

The breakfast was as usual diet tea with soaked fenugreek seeds. All day you will think about health and nothing else. In-fact they don’t give you any time for anything else at all, of-course unless if you skip the treatments and activities planned for you that day. We did not skip anything on any of the days. All activities are aimed and planned to improve you health and we were there to improve our health. Hence there was no reason for us to skip anything, Of-course sometimes you are not able to do all your activities in the same sequence but as long as you complete them in the day, you are doing fine. Since you have so many things lined up in a day, they don’t give you any time to be lazy at all and they keep you busy from 5.30 AM till 5.30 PM.

The first treatment for the day was Under Water Message (UWM). It is a sort of Hydrotherapy. It means treating with water in the form of compress, packs, fomentation, various bath tubs, and water messages etc.  In UWM, you will immerse yourself in water in a bath tub. In the tab tub and inside the water, they use water from a hose pipe with force to give you a message. The water comes out with great pressure and they use that to give you a message. It was a different experience. At some points you feel the pressure is too much and you feel the pain, but that’s part of it. The pain is manageable, but in case you feel too much pain you can inform the person giving the treatment and they will reduce the pressure.  Following this, I completed my physiotherapy sessions. Remember we spoke about CHT or Colon Hydrotherapy earlier, today I was scheduled for that at 1.30 PM. It’s very much similar to enema process but at a different level. They use a machine to clean your intestines of colon. They ask you to remove your clothes and wear a robe that they provide. They make you lie down on a table and insert a pipe in your anus and connect it to a machine. Using that machine, they put water into your body and then remove it back. They will use hot and cold water, three to four times each depending on the time. When they take out the water, it removes toxins and foreign particles (food stuck to your intestines and food in your stomach) from your body. It’s a completely different experience and definitely something you will not be able to forget. This process lasts for about 45 minutes. Once you are done, they will give you buttermilk to drink. They will also give you a pack of puff rice and a small pack of chana (gram) which is supposed to be eaten after 1 hour. You are expected to rest for one hour and not do any physical activity. When you are scheduled for CHT, you are not scheduled for any other treatment in that half. Since I was scheduled for CHT in the second half, there was no other treatment for me. After completing the required rest, I went for aquatic exercise today as well as per the time. After finishing the aquatic exercises, I went to meet the doctor and get the diet and treatments prescribed for next day.

The other new thing which started today was acupuncture. I have read and heard so much on this traditional Chinese therapy but this was the first time I was going to experience it.  In this the acupuncturist will insert needles in various parts of your body as per the disease requirement. This is a completely painless technique. Initially I was little hesitant and scared that it will pain, however later I realized that it’s just a myth and there is no pain. The process lasts for about 30 minutes and one has to complete a cycle of seven sittings. Was there any improvement following acupuncture therapy? To be frank, I don’t know and it’s difficult to say that it benefited or not in the event of so many treatments happening simultaneously.  Moreover, it was just the first day and I am sure you would not see much of difference in a day.

Moreover as I mentioned, this therapy needs to be done for at least 7 days, so let’s just wait and watch.

After all this, i went for a walk in the evening and completed about 4 kms walk. At around 6.40 PM it was time for dinner as usual. The kitchen or the diet center closes at 7 PM, hence we quickly rushed to get our share of the dinner. Today it was papaya and orange along with soup, buttermilk and steamed vegetables. There was a cultural programme organized in the evening “orchestra party’ but we decided to relax and enjoy the nice weather and have some chit chat. At 8.15 PM it was time for hot milk with jaggery and soaked fenugreek seeds along with a piece of bread . With that the day 3 comes to an end. After coming back to the room, completed my diary for the day, spoke to family and was ready for a sound sleep.

I have applied for JNI online. I don't know how to submit medical reports.
Should we scan and send or courier them?
Hope I make it there in August :)
