Health Vacation at JNI - Day 10

Image
Today is the last day and last night at JNI for us. One of my goal was to reduce as much weight as possible (thought of 10 kgs but knew that it wouldn’t be possible). However I lost more than 4 kgs till today and now can say that my weight is in late 70’s instead of 80’s. However, I am not disappointed as that was my stretch goal. The primary goal was to keep my numbers in control and move away from taking any medicines and I am happy that I achieved that. The second goal was to get the cholesterol numbers in control; I not only got them in control but have done much better in all the numbers and everything’s in range now. My third goal was to reduce my waist; again I am happy that I was able to do that as well. So overall all targets achieved and I am going back as a much healthier person.  Today, though it was a regular day for the folks at JNI and all treatments and activities went as planned, I had opted for Deep Tissue message and was very good indeed. Though we still have f

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 9

Tomorrow is our last day here and preparations are already on for tomorrow. I lost about 3.2 kg in 8 days, others lost more than 4 kgs. In order to achieve my goal, I walked two kms extra today and now my legs are too tired after walking for close to 9 kms at a stretch, but I am ok and I have my goal in mind as mentioned earlier. I had oil message today followed by steam, very good experience and later in the afternoon I had hot and cold pack for my back. My physiotherapy sessions are almost over except for one. I still have one session left for acupuncture for tomorrow. I have to target and loose at least 2 kgs by end of tomorrow so that I can reach below 80 kgs and hence need to work out extra. I also know that tomorrow I will not be able to do much in the morning as I am scheduled for LSP wherein I will drink 6-8 glasses of warm water and using yoga I will cleanse my system. But I am hopeful I would be able to reach below 80 by Sunday morning. In lunch, for a change I got cutl

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 8

We are getting more and more comfortable with our body, with daily yoga’s we are becoming more flexible and are now able to do Yogasanas with ease which were very difficult initially. Our stamina has increased and we are able to walk more than 10 kms a day. We are happy that we decided to come to JNI, it’s an investment on your life. Another two days left, today marks the completion of 8 th day. Our schedules are busy all day following up with doctor, completing our treatments, physiotherapy, acupuncture and the rest of the time is used for juices or breakfast or lunch or dinner. Everybody has got so used to the timings that they are there on time as I mentioned earlier as well no matter where they are and what treatment they are taking.  We met many people here, some coming for the first time like us whereas there are some who come here regularly. No matter how many times people come here, there aim is better health. We saw some kids as well (around 15-16 years) getting treated, it

The time is running fast and another 3 days and our course of 10 days will be over. Never thought it would go so soon, but time flies as someone said. Everyone is making progress, how much progress we have made we will get to know on the final day when we check our reports and we will check out weight as well on that day. However, today I feel I have lost about 3-4 kgs. My target was 10 kgs but that was a difficult target I guess but even if I am able to reduce 5 kgs (which everyone says I would) I would be around 78-79 and I think that’s a wonderful progress. Our schedules are decided one day before. There not much of change in the food except that instead of Sattu drink I am continuing with whole some juice and instead of Aloe Vera I have changed it to tender coconut. Looks like the only person is our group who was going strong, Mahesh, was not feeling well today. He had sore throat and little body ache. He was given some paste for his throat and was advised naturopathy treatment f

Suryanamaskar Days are becoming longer, and even then time is not enough. We started our day today around 5.30 AM. We got up at 5 but by the time we started walking it was already 5.30 AM. Mahesh is still continuing fasting for 4 th day consecutively whereas Gopalji had come back to fruits diet since he developed acidity and doctor advised him to go back to fruits diet. The day started as usual with a walk for about 2.5 Kms and then performing the yogic kriyas followed by laughing session. These laughing sessions have gone so much in mind and body that we don’t leave any chance to laugh. After the daily dose of laughter we completed our yoga session as well. At 7.40 AM it was time for DT+M (Digestive Tea and Methi), a ritual we will miss once we are out of here. After the tea break we head to the treatment section for the other rituals to be completed. I completed my Mud Pack Eye Pack session followed by Bitter gourd Juice along with Ragi porridge and papaya at 8.45

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 3

The day started again at 5 AM. We followed the same schedule as yesterday and same lunch like yesterday’s dinner (papaya, pineapple, sprouts, buttermilk and soup) followed same physiotherapy sessions today as well along with same mud pack eye pack treatment. The breakfast was as usual diet tea with soaked fenugreek seeds. All day you will think about health and nothing else. In-fact they don’t give you any time for anything else at all, of-course unless if you skip the treatments and activities planned for you that day. We did not skip anything on any of the days. All activities are aimed and planned to improve you health and we were there to improve our health. Hence there was no reason for us to skip anything, Of-course sometimes you are not able to do all your activities in the same sequence but as long as you complete them in the day, you are doing fine. Since you have so many things lined up in a day, they don’t give you any time to be lazy at all and they keep you busy from

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 5

As the days are progressing, the schedule is becoming smooth and easy. I think my body is getting used to it now and responding well to the schedule. As usual got up at 5 AM and got ready for the day. Started the day with some walking and then completed our yogic kriya’s. Initially I was amazed with how easily others are able to do Jalaneeti and other kriya’s, but now even I have become more confident and can do it with ease. I think it all comes with experience, more you experience better you get at it. Now I don’t need any directions and quickly complete all my kriya’s, with ease. After completing the kriya’s, it was time for laughter therapy or laughing yoga. I remember I used to see people practicing laughter yoga in the park when I used to go for walking and I used to think what they are doing. But now I know and understand the benefits. As they say, Laughter is the best medicine and we understood what it means now.  There are many benefits of everyday laughter sessions,

It has become a routine to get-up at 5 without much hassle now. You don’t need any alarm as well. The system has got immune to this new lifestyle and timings. The tiredness that was there on first two days is much less now. Probably my body has understood that this is the new schedule it needs to follow, like it or not. We started the day with walking for about 3 kms and then completed our yogic kriya’s followed by yoga asana’s. As usual once we complete these activities, we are served various tea and leave’s, for me its always digestive team with methi.  After that it’s time for mud pack and eye pack. These activities are regular and to be followed by everyone, every day. Today, it was infra-red sauna for me. It is very similar to regular sauna but with infra-red rather than steam.  This was followed by physiotherapy and acupuncture session. IN between all these treatments we had breaks for juice which included karela or bitter gourd juice along with ragi porridge and cher

Health Vacation at JNI - Day 2

DAY TWO It’s been a long day today and hasn't got much time to rest and to capture the daily events. The day is about to end in another two hours. I am desperately in need of good sleep as I didn't get much sleep last night and no time to rest in the day as well today, the day was fully packed with activities/treatments. Today was the actual day (first morning) after coming to JNI.  The day started at 5 AM. We got up at 5 AM today. Took some time to freshn’up and got ready to start the day. We still had some time to start the activities so utilized the time in walking. At 5.45 AM, it was time for Yogic Kriyas. We started with Ghee drops in nose, Jalaneti with Kapalbhati (using a utensil you pass the water from one nostril and take it out from the other nostril), Vaman Dhauti (drink 4 glasses of water and forceful vomiting), Gargling followed by Eye Kriya (open your eyes in eye tonic water). The first day it took about 25 minutes but as we progressed we got exper

Day 1 You are expected to reach JNI before 11 AM on your first day. Keeping that in mind we booked the cab for 8.30 AM from Marathalli as our first pickup was from there. Next myself and Mahesh got picked-up  from Koramangla. We took NICE road so that we avoid going thru traffic and can reach JNI as per expected time. It took about 1 hour 30 minutes from Marathalli to JNI. At the main gate of JNI campus, we were asked to keep our luggage in the visitors room and were asked to meet the coordinators at the reception. The registration was very systematic and smooth. AT the main gate security, they have a list of all the patients supposed to join every day. We met the counselors who helped us initiate the joining formalities. While we were completing the joining formalities, we were served welcome drink, Tender Coconut water. It was really refreshing and I was thinking that why people write so much on food in JNI, not knowing fully what’s in store for next ten days. After comple

Health Vacation at Jindal Nature-cure Institute

The Wake Up Call I want to start this with a quote from author Robin Sharma’s book ‘The monk who sold his Ferrari’, “ When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all of your thoughts breaks their bonds, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person than you ever dreamed yourself to be ”. My friend is suffering with Polyp’s for a long ti.me and it was getting worst day by day. He tried taking medicines, homeopathy but nothing worked. Doctors finally advised him surgery to remove the Polyp’s and to clear the nasal blockage. This was the wake call for my friend and he started searching on the net for other alternative solutions available. While searching on net, he got to know of Naturopathy treatment at Jindal Nature Cure. He checked their website and read t

Passport for Minor or an Infant

I recently applied for passport for my two daughters aged 3 and 8. It was a renewal for the 8 year old and a fresh passport for the 3 year old. I am sharing my experience for the benefit of others. While applying for passports for my daughters, I didn't get much direction online, though there was information on the passport website about the forms and formalities but not on the exact process and how one should prepare. There are few forums and blogs which talk about this but do not provide much direction. I am sure all those who have kids will want to apply for passports irrespective of their travel plans. My  elder kid already had a passport which was due for renewal in November’14 and I had to apply for a fresh passport for the younger one. You can apply for a renewal of old passport anytime within one year from the date of expiry of the passport. Since I had to apply fresh passport for the younger one, I decided to renew the elder ones passport also at the same time,
